The Linksys Vision

The "broadband" age is upon us. At Linksys, a worldwide team of more than 900 employees are working hard to provide the infrastructure for the next generation to live in a more advanced networking environment. What do we mean by "next-generation home networking solutions"? According to IDC, the current worldwide home networking market is data-centric. However, over the next few years, multimedia and entertainment networking, both already emerging, will grow even further as consumer electronics manufacturers are driven to integrate networking technologies into devices such as televisions and PVRs. This convergence of technologies is the key to next-generation home networking solutions.

Linksys Acquired by Cisco Systems, Inc.

In June 2003, Cisco Systems, Inc., the world leader in networking for the Internet, acquired The Linksys Group, a then privately held company. Cisco's goal was to enter into the home networking market. Linksys' goal was to partner with a company that would assist it in driving innovative products into the consumer market. With Cisco's networking expertise and Linksys' user-friendly features, consumer and small business users can now build high quality networks designed for their specific networking environments.
